god of hellfire an' that

give me ten minutes and some felts and i'll give you the cover to a mid-90s gabber compilation.

just got this on borrow

this is a drawing I did for Emma's 30th birthday, the camera is not so good but I love this little bitch, everything worked out on this one, nice strong lines, with depth and expression.

oh wait...

quick sketch I did because my "main art" was frustrating me so i thought i'd give myself a break and just do nonsense for fun.

samhain!

a very quick themed sketch, all about the hal-0-ween.

the ultimate tattoo

it's got everything you need to show you're a rough-and-ready maverick who doesn't follow society's stupid rules!

Thursday 23 September 2010

little sketch

having uploaded anything in ages, so here's a little sketch-a-doodle.

Wednesday 8 September 2010

gabba!

found one of my old tape-sleeves. it's drawn in ballpoint, i love drawing in ballpoint.

Thursday 2 September 2010

grunk

this chap was based on a pair or wire-strippers i used to have. it's painted on heavy paper using Games Workshop paints, which i quite like.

Sunday 29 August 2010

another quick sketch

just fancied playing about with pastels so i spent 25 minutes or so on this little lady.

Saturday 28 August 2010

snippet

just a weird little sketch, sometimes you have to let yourself be lazy.

Monday 23 August 2010

muerte!

one of my favourites, done in acrylic. the graphite skull is one of the preliminary sketches.

Saturday 21 August 2010

cheeky girl

woo! just found this old one, it's my lovely lady!

life study

quick 15 minute sketch done today. it's not a complete piece but it does have the chiaroscuro i'm a big fan of and there's an emotive quality to it that i'm trying to foster in my work.
quite like it!

mr cash

this was the first piece of art, of any kind, that i did after a rather extended sabbatical. it's in acrylic paint, which i like because i'm far too impatient for oils. acrylics allow you to build up layers very quickly as it dries in minutes.

a quick A1 sketch in compressed charcoal. i love charcoal and the compressed stuff allows you to create really dark lines. the photograph of the sketch is a bit gloomy but i've uploaded it here anyway 'cos i'm something of a maverick.

greyscale study

another one from my life-drawing class. i got a good 2-hour run at this one and i really rather like it. the legs really have a good sense of shape and weight. i also think i managed to create the feeling that she could be about to move at any point.
it also has quite a warm feel to it.
that's what concentration does for ya.

bat!

a quick sketch of a bat done with my left hand in trusty 4B graphite.

mrs. frankenstein

this little lady was created with a tattoo gun and inks, on a slab of "synthetic skin" which is, in fact, just a slab of rubber. it's tough going getting the ink to take on the rubber but all-in-all it's quite a sweet little piece and there's probably a wry inference to be drawn from an image of life re-created on fake skin.

candybox

i made this little collage approx. 9 years ago, i was lucky enough to find and empty Viagra box, and lo and behold, i had a flyer with a girl covered in candy. now there's some hard-hitting satire on the modern pharmo-industrial complex.

sepia study

i was taking life-drawing classes when i lived in East Finchley and this is one of the pieces i did. i'm not completely satisfied with it although the proportions do look correct, the sepia pastels have created an odd clay-like effect... but that darn hair!
i never concentrate on hair as much as i should, i feel that it doesn't have enough substance.

bug

a sketch of a common cricket, taken from my guidebook to British insects. i like drawing in ballpoint as you can get quite a good tonal range, and there's always the nostalgia of doodling yet another Iron Maiden logo on your school textbook.

bloody bones

this is a sketch of one of my Monster In My Pocket toys, i used him as an excuse to crack out the old pencils.
